Food As Medicine

"I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice." -Hippocratic Oath

As nutrition science and research expands and develops, health practitioners are discovering the importance of diet on wellness and disease prevention and control. We are forming a collection of initiatives, research, and serious ongoing efforts to demonstrate and highlight diet with good health outcomes, that are built upon serious research and/or evidence.
Here are a few great examples of initiatives in healthcare that are connecting food, nutrition, and health:
  • Swedish is Squeezing the Juice out of Pediatric Care
  • Healthcare Without Harm - Food Matters
  • Kaiser Permanente's Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL)
  • HBO's The Weight of the Nation
  • Congressional Hunger Center's Food As Medicine Campaign
  • Community Servings' "Food Is Medicine" Initiative
  • Johns Hopkins Medicine's "Take Two Carrots and Call Me in the Morning"
  • International Conference on Nutrition in Medicine
Please share any efforts you are aware of that are not listed here.
